She was born and raised in Ontario, Canada, where she completed an undergraduate Bachelor of Science, Human Kinetics (Honours) degree at the University of Guelph. After moving to Australia, Kristyn completed her postgraduate Medical degree at the University of Queensland.

As part of her Specialist training, she is honoured to be working with Dr Brandi Cole at the Shire Sports Medicine in Cronulla, and Dr Sharron Flahive and her colleagues at The Stadium Sports Medicine Clinic in Moore Park. Since commencing her Specialty training, she has had the privilege of covering sporting events, such as, the 2024 Tissot UCI Track Nations Cup in Adelaide as the CMO; and team doctor for Adelaide NPL Football (Soccer), Eagles WNFL League team, South Australian Women's Cricket (SACA); and more recently, the Australian A Women's Cricket (QLD tour), and the Adelaide Lightning Women's NBL team.

Professionally, she has provided medical coverage of NPL football matches, and as an athlete, personally played football for the Adelaide WNPL Reserves, State Reserves, and the Australian Medical team, in the past year. Kristyn has a diverse football (soccer) background, having played in Canada, Australia, and on a Nicaraguan Women's Tola Soccer team, while briefly living in Central America.

In line with her personal and professional practice, Dr. Bell is an advocate of patient teaching regarding knowledge of the human body, and the importance of optimizing their health through disease prevention and performance. She is now an honorary lecturer at the University of Adelaide, where she is currently involved with Bone Research and the impact of diet on stress fractures in athletes. Her most current research, ‘Rehydration After Exercise-Induced Fluid Losses: Comparing Flavoured Water, Coconut Water, and Carbohydrate-Electrolyte Sports Beverages’ was recently published in the Journal of Strength and Conditioning, findings of which she intends to implement into her future practice as a Sport and Exercise Physician.

Kristyn's passion for people and advocating for their health is based on her fervent belief that small changes can lead to large gains in all aspects of one’s life and health, which is what inspired her to create her website ‘Run. Jump. Fly’, promoting scientifically-backed health articles.
